Even when we attempt to read it with the Meter Reading software of the manufacturer, the day is completely blank. The registers still counted up, but the load profile is just gone. This causes the meter not to audit.

With both meters, reading the events seem problematic, because we were not able to do selective access, meaning we have to read the entire event log every time, so if your link is unreliable, you cannot read the events. The events are also in time sequence (from old to new), so the newest events are not even in the top of the returned data. So when doing IPT (Sparklet client mode), or accessing over less reliable networks, you invariable would lose connection in the middle of reading events. So in those cases, better to read everything else and not events! Switch off events in Advanced Meter Settings..
