I'm trying to read water meter pulses through the TruTeq SmarToo modem.
The modem was set up by TruTeq. My spec was half hourly readings. I have three expansion modules attached, each with 8 pulse inputs.

What logging has been set up on the SmarToo? I don't see a log command in the expected place.

I don't know anything about the TruTeq protocol! I mean I haven't worked with the smartoo inputs before. With the expansion units and storage, that is new. According to me nothing should have changed except more channels that can be stored.

There are many different 'timer' commands that can log values. The right ones to use are the ones that can log on the half hour boundary. When I queried those command configurations, there was nothing.

I'll phone them and ask them to sort it out, otherwise I will take out the units and throw them on his table. I am very tired of keeping our client in suspense. I'm going to take it out, sorry for the client. I'll get some old SDG RTU's from somewhere...

Well, what exactly is physically connected? If they didn't know what exactly you want to log, that would be a legitimate reason for them not to have set it up.

In the same way, I also don't know from PNPSCADA what you want to log. That is why PNPSCADA reads the settings from the modem. The modem does not automatically log everything. Someone must set it up, using the TruTeq version of the AT command set.

I agree. I thought you worked together with them to support the modem in PNPSCADA. At the moment I want to do it as a proof of concept. If the client wants to roll out, then I'll learn to program it myself. I need two experts to tell me it works. Software side and hardware side.

Can I call it on CSD?

Yes you can call it, but remember if it is connected to PNP, then it won't answer - you'll first have to break the TCP/IP connection from the server side.

By the way, I'm not 100% sure the logging will still work if the unit is constantly connected on GPRS... I think it depends on the hardware and configuration. For example, the timer event that connects restarts the modem if it is already connected on some versions - timer overrun. But it is also possible to set up the unit on an APN modem, or as a Generic Active GPRS modem, if it should be necessary.
IF the modem restart all the time when you try to log values, it will also cause gaps in the log. The most reliable way to run it as a logger is probably as an APN modem.
There are also events that can be set up to come through on GPRS connection (even if the modem is configured as an APN modem - it must come through on the normal SmarTee PNPSCADA port). The way to specify a specific event is in the format:
